Would you compare a minibus design to a railroad car?

A compare and contrast exercise on a minibus and a railroad car would produce some line items on each side.

Price controls under Medicare and Nixon have in common that they are, er, price controls, artificial price setting at the national political level, done in the face of price inflation.

I could give you a dozen factors off the top of my head where the comparison could be picked apart

Perhaps you could mention just a few? That's a straight question. I don't know what you have in mind. I can identify some differences but nothing that would seem to matter.

I would return to the dire predictions made about Medicare which turned out to be so much ideological leg-humping in the 1960's

Which ones might those be? The ones that claimed that the system wasn't solvent long term?

If I saw you giving an objective look at the alternatives, I would assume it's something more than the crankiness that you and Kate are indulging in so dramatically in all your posts on this topic.

First of all, this has been going on for a long time. Objective looks at alternatives have long since been undertaken by anyone so inclined and determinations made. There hasn't been any significant new input in ages. It's a little late in the game to come at this like some kind of ingenue.

Second, I don't see the other side looking freshly and objectively at alternatives. So why are Kate and I the cranky ones? Is there a different standard for critics than for those on the band-wagon? Or is it our being in the minority? Or are you just not in the mood for downers today? <g>
