It turns out Hilo got a 5.5 feet wave and Maui a 6.5 feet wave. The wave that killed 61 in Hilo in 1960 was only 13 feet. New Zealand saw a 2 meter wave and Japan is still anticipating a 10 feet wave in some stretches. newser.com reuters.com reuters.com
