I suggest you read up on admin cost differences of private vs public insurance (Medicare).

Thank you for your suggestion. Question - should I focus on Medicare's overhead costs only at the level *before* the funds get handed down to the private insurance companies who are the carriers? Or, should we also take into consideration the costs which are incurred by those carriers in the process of actually administering the program?

Perhaps, before we expand a Medicare-like system to every resident of the US, we ought to examine why it is on its way to go broke?

Such big issues should be thoroughly evaluated... and not argued for or against simply using political slogans and one-liners.
