SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking and Gold member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, today announced the release of a new solution developed in cooperation with Oracle that optimizes the use of F5® BIG-IP® Application Delivery Controllers with Oracle Enterprise Manager. Working together, F5 and Oracle have created the Oracle® Enterprise Manager plug-in for BIG-IP, now available for download at F5 DevCentral and from the Oracle Technology Network. In addition, customers can access both an Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture White Paper on Oracle’s website and an F5 Deployment Guide on www.f5.com.
“The Oracle Enterprise Manager plug-in for F5 BIG-IP is a great example of how Oracle partners can extend Oracle Enterprise Manager. With this plug-in, our mutual customers can improve application availability by managing their environments through one central location. Our longstanding collaboration with F5 has not only enhanced Oracle Enterprise Manager, it continues to deliver tangible benefits to our joint customers,” said Will Scelzo, Senior Director, Business Development, Oracle.
Oracle Enterprise Manager provides customers with a comprehensive and unified monitoring and management console for Oracle application deployments. This new jointly developed solution provides detailed, prescriptive guidance for deploying Oracle Enterprise Manager with F5 BIG-IP solutions for high availability, performance, and security. By enabling monitoring of F5 BIG-IP solutions directly within Oracle Enterprise Manager, the plug-in extends the ability to manage Oracle deployments to include both Oracle software (for example, database, middleware, application) and the F5 Application Delivery Network.
The joint management solution offers customers the ability to:
Reduce TCO by Centralizing Monitoring Capabilities – The plug-in provides administrators managing Oracle systems and BIG-IP solutions with a consolidated view of the entire enterprise, enabling them to monitor and manage all components from a central place. This integrated solution can reduce the total cost of ownership by helping to eliminate the need to manually compile critical information from several different tools, making it easier to identify availability and performance issues across the infrastructure.
Save Time by Automatically Tracking Configuration Changes – Tracking configurations is one of the most time-consuming and difficult tasks administrators face on a daily basis. Being able to quickly view a detailed configuration snapshot, analyze historical changes, and enforce standardization between systems is key to performing diagnostics, auditing, and compliance tasks, and making intelligent business decisions.
Streamline Operations with Pre-Set Threshold Alerts – The plug-in automatically collects a comprehensive set of availability and performance metrics with pre-defined thresholds, immediately alerting administrators of potential issues. This allows administrators to realize significant value, while giving them the flexibility to fine-tune thresholds according to their specific business needs.
Enhance Management Visibility with Convenient Out-of-the-Box Reporting – To further aid administrators with critical tasks such as problem diagnosis, trend analysis, and capacity planning, the plug-in includes eight out-of-the-box reports that summarize key information about BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager™ availability, performance, and configuration. These reports are easily accessible from the Oracle® Enterprise Manager Grid Control console, enabling administrators to schedule, share, and customize their reports.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with Oracle in producing a valuable solution to help joint customers manage, integrate, and optimize deployments of Oracle Enterprise Manager and BIG-IP systems,” said Calvin Rowland, VP of Application Partner Programs at F5. “Previously, customers have had to manage the Oracle applications and BIG-IP systems using different tools. Our new offering gives customers holistic visibility for Oracle software and the F5 application delivery infrastructure to increase operational efficiencies and streamline management.”
“The collaboration between F5 and Oracle demonstrates today’s tight integration between business applications and the network,” said Jon Oltsik, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “This partnership will enable IT groups to better address change control, problem isolation, and application performance. The result? Increased business productivity and improved IT efficiency.” |
