Good article. It changes preconceptions that people have about Latin America. It's also useful to remember that, at least demographically, the USA is in pretty good shape. If current trends continue, by the middle of the century the USA will be the youngest developed country on the planet, and that includes China. And although many on SI will find it difficult to believe, the USA is also in good shape as far as pension obligations. Social Security pension age is already up to 67 years. The big problem in the US is health care cost, but at least now almost everybody here is aware of it, and there is hope it's going to be solved in the next decade or so.
