Kieth, Below is a press release from NEC......Funny, IDX also anounced the same contracts in conjunction with NEC......What gives? Live Scan - LS-21 NEC AFIS now introduces its long-awaited tenprint live scan to offer a total Booking to Identifiction solution. with the recent win at the Texas DPS. LS-21 highlights include as standard options, a rolled/flat comparison check of finger sequence and duplicate finger, and Image Compression and De-compression. The LS-21 will also operate in a NIST or Native Mode AFIS Interface. NEC and its LS-21 was recently awarded a contract by the Texas Criminal Justice Policy Council and the Texas General Services Commission. These systems are scheduled for installation during the first quarter of 1997 and will connect to NEC's central AFIS at the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). bg ps. I phoned NEC....They said that IDX is the OEM for the LS-21. You can call them also. Some things just are not going to show up on the internet.
