An idea that has languished for years

And one that will continue to take many years. A complex slow effort, does not imply "an effort that would be improved by massive government involvement".

Its been proposed almost continuously.

So has abolishement of Medicare

Not nearly as often. Esp. if you mean abolishment without replacement.

People say a lof of things...be relevant

Its directly relevant.

Once again, your claim was - "No proposal at any time suggested a "take over" of health insurance." That claim is simply and obviously false.

As for bills, Republicans have proposed all sorts of amendments and bills of there own, but they got quickly shot down by the majority, dieing in committee, or never coming to any sort of vote, or being rejected quickly by a vote.
