Interstate highways are built by contractors not government workers.

Funny I was arguing just that point here the other day... on how outsourcing has grown and government as a result has gotten smaller. Was that with you?

The truth is the government measures the need, plans, clears all the regulatory hurdles and adjustments, acquires the land, appropriates the funds and then specs the project. The contractors do the grunt labor. The contractors make roads to the same extent that the Chinese contractor makes Apple iPhones.

Transportation services, water services, electricity, etc. have been profitably provided by the private sector.

Ever wonder why it is that every successful country in history has had a strong central government? You want low tax, weak central government you could try Haiti or Somalia... now is there real freedom for all you John Galt types. Freedom from infrastructure and a 98% chance of poverty.
