Jesse wrote a good primer on the M-s. The Fed is printing, and
they do, but the broad money supply (which includes a lot of
debt) can still be declining. In addition,
the Fed started tightening, withdrawing emergency liquidity
measures, hiking discount rates. They will stop printing
this month. Only the base should matter for gold, or so
most folks think.

We are living in a world of fiat in which money is someone's debt
and the value of currencies is determined by interest rates
