More often regulation is removed in response to special interests.

Regulation is what creates a level playing field. Most good companies want a strong regulatory regime in their industry so that they can compete on a level playing field. Otherwise it's like playing football without rules... everybody runs amok.

We, and the Western European countries have the safest products in the world. Why? It's because we have the strongest regulations. Everybody mostly plays fair... and the consumer benefits.

Is their some cost? Sure. I'll pay a little more for inspected beef knowing that it won't kill me...
