I think Obamacare has turned into a suicide mission for Obama and Pelosi and Reid, but they are held hostage by their base, for whom universal health care is a kind of Holy Grail. The base sees this as their ONE. LAST. CHANCE. and will not forgive anything less than the maximal effort, no matter what the cost.

Besides, it will be the Blue Dogs (and hapless Harry Reid) committing suicide, not themselves.

But I really can't see how they get the Blue Dogs to commit mass suicide on their behalf. Has Obama got that many ambassadorships to offer? Half the Democrats in Congress could lose office if they jam this down on an unwilling public.
