The free market isn't taking us anyplace right now, best I can tell. There's almost none left and no impetus to create one. We're going in the other direction.

As more and more people lose insurance, due to employer cut backs, the "free market" is growing.... that is on the demand end anyway. If that continues, and I don't see it abating unless things change (the bill passes), then the "free market" would continue to grow.

For you libertarian folks maybe the "magic hand" is self destructing the perverse incentives of our current system by pricing them out of reach.

(This is more theoretical Lane than practical).
