The truth is all the nations of the EU are capitalist and economic freedom is just another parameter when reviewing an economy. What sets the Nordic countries apart from Greece and Spain is good gov't. Good gov't usually trumps everything. You have good gov't anything is possible. You have a corrupt gov't or an indifferent gov't and very little is possible.

A lot of the very socialistic EU economies are doing rather poorly its not just the nordic countries that are socialistic.

In fact the Nordic countries tend to get in the way of wealth creation less than say Greece.

In the index of economic freedom, Denmark is number 9 (right behind the US), Finland 17, Sweden 21, and Norway 37.

Compared to France at 64, Greece at 73, and Italy at 74.
