Apparently they succeeded in convincing Micron and Packard Bell, among
others. I don't see why Micron, who had the benefit of using SysWiz
on a trial basis, would move forward and begin shipping it on all
platforms if the trial had not proven to them that the $5 spent did,
in fact, save them $10 (or $8.50 or whatever) AND delivered improved
service to the customer.

I don't consider the SysWiz-2.0 release a trivial event. It may well
signal the availability of functionality (eg. search engine) that the
big players have been waiting for before they sign up. The timing of
all these things is interesting. SYSF said last quarter that the
trials for Dell and Compaq would run from 3 to 6 months. Since there
were significant expenses in the last quarter for these trials, I
expect they started no later than the beginning of July. So, the
trials have been running 4 months or so as of the end of October. The
new functionality (added to today) is available. Other OEMs are moving
forward with SysWiz. I think the time is right. I guess we will know
for sure in about 2 weeks ;-)
