Thanks for the refresher, which has exposed me to the latest shock horror and banning for a far more modest posting by our great and wondrous visitor, Zim the Amazing.
We see in microcosm the cultural norms of the various parties. What is shocking to some, is not at all shocking when done to somebody else. Seeker of Truth is delicately concerned about a mild comment, but oblivious to a far more nasty piece of work. ElM too was keen to raise one or two eyebrows and evict forthwith those making slight aspersions about how wonderful he is while ignoring barbarians traveling with the pack.
Thanks for the alert.
The transactions are interesting because they reflect the cultural norms of the respective societies.
In Anglo, Zim would receive, "Please be a good chap and play cricket by the rules. It would make for a pleasant afternoon. Would you like a nice cup of tea?"
In Brazil, ElM would pull out a gun and shoot him in the back.
In China, there's a pretence of legality, a quick and decisive trial, a denigration to subhuman slug status, a collectivist importance of those in power, a prompt execution.
Will Brazil and China, using their cultural norms, rise to pre-eminence in the world as claimed? Will people try to break into those countries to live and keep their assets?
