I think Romney has too much baggage (he has actually done something instead of just talking about it) for GOP fanatics. I predict that if he gains traction, his daddy's comment about being "brainwashed" by The Vietnam War hawks will somehow come back to bite him on the arse. Ditto for my favorite GOP candidate, Huckabee. He has a record of solving and trying to solve problems, which automatically means he is part of "big government." The teabaggers love Palin, but they don't yet control the GOP. One thing I admire about her: she is marketing the heck out of her 15 minutes of fame. But I think her teenaged daughter's illegitimate kid and her own child with Down's Syndrome disqualify her as a model conservative woman. That woman is June Cleaver, not Sarah Palin.

My suspicion is that the next GOP candidate will be somebody who isn't in the mix right now. But it is a narrow window of opportunity. The gov. of Louisiana was a favorite, then, one goofy speech killed him. And it wasn't that he said anything wrong. He just looked and acted weird. As the saying goes, it's a tough crowd.
