November 10th announcement "front page material"
In a not unexpected development yesterday, Rumors' contacts throughout the USA were in an uproar over faxes, calls, and emails about the November 10th "Press Conference" that was to be held in Cupertino....it has become a national two and a half hour "Event," with locations in virtually every major US city. Even Rumors' highest level contacts are either out of the loop or, for the first time in our relationship with them, "can't say"! We've been confounded with this one, from start to finish. Whatever security measures the executive team has put into action are working -- quite well.
Whatever it is, it's been consistently described as "the kind of thing you'll be seeing on the front page of every newspaper in the country the following day." A "personal" letter from Steve Jobs to a great many people of significant influence, distributed yesterday, makes it clear that this is to be a true "Event," rather than a mere press conference; Jobs also makes it clear that this will be about much more than just new products -- it will be a "change in the way we do business."
We'll be keeping a tight watch on this -- if you have any tips or information to pass on about the November 10th "Event," don't hesitate to drop us a line.
On a side note, one Apple/Claris employee had this to say about the Nov. 10th situation:
You're not kidding. They've a close-circuit TVs installed in 4 of our facilities and "all employees connected with the Apple and Claris business units are required to attend, regardless of your scheduled shift."
Other than that, we've ZERO information. Beyond zero. Interestingly, despite continued trade press rumors that 8.1 and QT3 will be delayed, training has continued unabated. This is odd for Apple/Claris. I guess I'll find out on the 10th? :-)
