If you're a government employee then you work for ME and if you're having conversations with "constituents" then maybe I should have access to those conversations.

WHY would a government employee OBJECT to that if they are just saying what they could reasonably be expected to say? And why would the "constituent" presume privacy when they are writing to the GOVERNMENT?

If a government employee is a "friend" of mine and I'm writing to them on NON governmental channels then maybe I can assume that my conversations will be kept in confidence, but IF I write them as my representative I don't believe I have ANY such right of privacy.
