That they did. But Vanity Fair is far from the totality of the media. Or even a particularly influential part of it. I think the fact that there were no comments to speak of at the Vanity Fair site shows that it was only recently discovered by the wing nuts.

Then you should be able to link to an example. Heck, if it was that widespread, Fox would have done some segments on it.
