I tried that. Big Brother wouldn't let me. He knows how old I am. Besides, lying in such situations is fraud. Somehow I don't think that committing fraud to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy elevates one's ethical status. <g>

in Canada for health care, we can not opt out

We can't either. That's what I've been trying to tell you. I looked into it. It's not feasible. If I sent the provider a payment, he would be getting double payment, which would be a crime. He'd be criminally liable and I would be party to it. The most we can legally do is to not sign up for Parts B and D. But even then in most situations we can only be billed the Medicare amount so we're still benefiting from it. There really is no way out.
