It is movement toward greater privacy and greater acceptance for individual rights, ideally paired with greater concern for the well being of one unto another. The history of our world is a map of liberating endeavors to free people from the one form of tyranny and oppression after another. Each generation has a difficult time accepting their role in all of that, even to the point of denial, but you can be sure of one thing, our grandchildren’s grandchildren will be singing folk songs about our time if humanity survives that long. That may be one of the few ways we honestly talk and listen to each other.
