Tim, you just wrote a WHOLE post telling me that Presidents DON'T create or control deficits, yet you keep talking about Obama when you talk about today's deficits.
I didn't say they don't create or control deficits, only that they are not the sole or always overwhelming cause of them. Other factors have a lot of influence and yes that applies to Obama as well.
Obama is partially responsible for these deficits, but it is true that deficits would now be fairly large no matter who was president, as Obama has had a fairly deep recession during his time in office, and as the current congress is inclined to spend.
Beyond that my statement was not about Obama's deficits directly, it was a comparison of these deficits to Reagan's (with neither belonging solely to the president, but with terms like "Obama's deficits" and "Reagan's deficits" being a useful shorthand, esp, since both are partially responsible). Reagan also faced a deep recession, but didn't push deficit spending as hard as Obama has.

And even if the presidents where not responsible (and they are partially responsible), if you just argue "well it wasn't president's XXX's fault", you get slammed for ignoring the facts, so you have to present your own facts, to show how such a simple presentation of even true facts, isn't definitive.
