The Tea Partiers say they want LESS government, but what will they say if THEY get hurt TOO in the process.
Some of them sure, but the overall effect will be positive, esp. if "less government" means you eliminate or reduce the worst of it, rather than the norm, or (as is to often the case), the best (either because sometimes good programs have less special interest support, or because politicians are trying to stop the reductions by saying "you want less government, OK that means this vital program will be cut, and these programs you love will be eliminated".
We're ALL gonna have to take a HIT if we want to get the U.S. back up and running again.
We don't really have to cut spending (overall) or raise taxes, just put a clamp on future spending growth. Some cuts would be part of restraining the growth of spending, but the total level doesn't need to go down (not that I'm opposed to it going down, but its not required in order to get the budget in shape). |
