There is speculation the guy didn't want to lose his power steering at such a high speed. It goes without saying.

The higher the speed the easier it is to steer. The reason he did not know how to turn it off is obvious. He did not bother to learn how to operate his car. All or almost all, of the push to turn on cars, require that the button be pushed for several seconds to turn it off when it is moving. But when sitting still they go off immediately. He never bothered to learn this and IMO he should get a ticket.
