Mindmeld, I agree with you that bipartisanship is overrated. But for Obama to run on the pretext of bipartisanship, only to blame the other side for obstructionism, tells me one of two things:

1) Obama never cared about real bipartisanship, but he'll say anything to get elected, just like any other politician.

2) Obama was naive enough to think that he could bring progressive compromise that both sides could agree on. (And when I say "progressive," I don't mean what liberals think is "progressive." I mean real progress that breaks the gridlock in Washington.)

I'm inclined to believe #1. Health care legislation during a severe recession is completely partisan. This is Obama's version of "my way or the highway." I'm not surprised that liberals who once complained about Bush's unilateral policies are now supporting Obama's.
