<< I do think as time goes on and (large) companies realize the legal implications of a Y2K-related failure, they will flock to buy Y2K insurance.>>

Two detailed articles in Monday's LA Times downplayed the alarms being raised about Y2K problems as hyperbole by self-interested parties. Also, one article discussed the insurance as costing 65% of the covered amount, so prohibitively high that you have to believe that the insurance cos. have another agenda, probably to play ghost busters rather than to peddle ghost insurance.

While embedded chips were discussed briefly in the articles, there wasn't much detail about them. Still, if TPRO's assessment vehicle is as proprietary as it seems, the problems can be much smaller than trumpeted and still produce impressive revenue. Ultimately (if not in the intermediate term) the friction on Topro's upside potential will be investor perceptions that it's a one-trick pony. If the overall market holds, though, I think that early '98 could be a good time for the stock.
