Ted, > In terms of Iraq Obama is doing exactly what he promised which was to follow the Bush plan and make sure the troops came home this year.

Obama promised he would "remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months." This was on his campaign website. You can Google the quote for confirmation.

On the contrary all American troops will be out by this summer. That's why during this past election, American troops were not visible......the election was run completely by the Iraqis. Its why I believe for the first time that the Iraqi democracy might make it.....assuming what the results show. If Obama said 16 months, he may miss that deadline by 2 months. By August all but a small contingency of American troops are to be withdrawn from Iraq.

BTW check that number again.....I think its 18 months, not 16.

And a second btw.....Iraqi election turnout was 63%....considerably better than the 50% during the last presidential election in this country.
