Mindy, you are always bitching about Q's Public Relations. You obviously do not understand the ramifications of what you suggest.

Q will never try or want to have the famous "Intel Inside" reputation. They actually tried that and on many phones you will find "Digital by Qualcomm" stickers on the phones or embossed in the plastic. However it is very understated for a reason.

You have to go back to the beginning and recognize who Q really is. They were and are an enabler of advanced technology. Their targeted customers were and are the the incumbent wireless world. Q's technology was disruptive and as a result was not welcomed into that world.

Q's technology was proven correct and reluctantly the industry had to agree that they could not afford to ignore it. Plus they were pissed because Q required a fee to go down that road. But, even with the fee it meant a whole new world to them and money in their pocket. Egos, being what they are, the carriers and the manufactures now trumpeted their triumph about how they were now advancing the technology on their networks into the future.

Q smartly let the incumbent industry toot their own horns. Even though that same industry tried it's best to demean the new kid on the block. Q knew that the same industry that tried their best to belittle their technology was also their customer. And, Q knew that the name of game is to advance the capability of wireless and make enough money doing it to create an ongoing concern.

It is now well known that Q is the technology leader in the wireless world. So, let me ask you a couple of questions. Is it now in Q's best interest to trumpet that in their face ?? Will a major PR emphasis result in increased share price ?? Will the consumer care who made the chips and the underlying technology ?? Will Q's blowing their own horn piss off the incumbents (who are their customers) ??

I don't know about you, but I see Qualcomm's name come up about 10 times a day in either press released or articles written about them. They are a household name in the industry and the stock market. I think their strategy has been brilliant. What more do you want ????
