The amount of drug abuse and kind of drug abuse varies greatly based on economic, social and educational levels. A lot of recovery simply comes from people growing up. And an educated mind can figure a way out its problems much better than an uneduated mind. You do not find a lot of drug abuse in Jewish or American Chinese cultures. And there is a difference between using drugs and drug abuse. In ghettos it is crack and meth that destroy people very quickly. So the unedcated use the most dangerous drugs. The highly educated seldom mess with those two, but instead will drink alcohol or smoke pot. Pot seems to be the safest of all drugs. And alcohol in moderation will actually extend ones life. So people who use pot and alcohol in moderation can live full unimpeded lives. The uneducated mind often believes in everything from ghosts and spirits to devils and angels and often struggles to jsut get by day to day. I grew up and did some teaching in a large ghetto and know the mind of the uneducated well.
