The Dept of Agriculture and the NIH push high carb diets in their production supports, their research supports, and their health/dietary advisories. It's not likely a coincidence that obesity mushroomed in concert with supports for corn and the demonizing of dietary fat. You can easily draw a straight line between the push to remove fat from the diet and replace it with carbs. These folks are still telling us not to eat cholesterol although that has long since been debunked as a cause of heart disease.

Well you know more about what the government pushed than I do. But I think most people eat what tastes good to them.... regardless of the consequences. They treat food as entertainment, not fuel. Nothing wrong with that on occasion, but 3 times a day will kill you.

Since I started (heavy) exercising I adjust my diet to my level of exercise and my exercise to my diet. It I get rained out from exercise I'll probably have a salad for lunch; if I gorge on a big meal I'll increase my exercise the next day. But I can pretty much eat anything I want and I never vary much more than 2 pounds +/-. (And yes I do a big carb fix once in a while; I LOVE carbs).
