I have given some thought as to what type of government spending actually stimulates the economy.

To me it is clear that the interstate highway system has stimulated the economy. Similarly, a new intersection on an interstate often leads to investment at that site.

Perhaps the ultimate infrastructure investments - if one is familiar with the QEW in Ontario is the two bridges - one in St. Catherine's and the other in Hamilton/Burlington. Those two bridges seriously open up southern Ontario to business from the US.
