Demonizing heartless health insurers so that heartless big government can deny your claim instead

You've likely heard the (doubtful) claim that a lack of health insurance is directly responsible for the deaths of 20,000 Americans per year. Here's a case in Britain where government health rationing directly killed 20,000 cancer patients who would have otherwise survived:

<<< Up to 20,000 people have died needlessly early after being denied cancer drugs on the NHS, it was revealed yesterday. The rationing body NICE has failed to keep a promise to make more life-extending drugs available. >>>

This is not proof that a government-run health system cannot work. But it does demonstrate the fatuity of arguing from tear-jerking anecdotes about private insurers' rejection of treatments. What makes the liberals believe that a cost-cutting government will be any less heartless than a private insurer?

After all, Medicare already denies far more claims than the largest private insurers.
