<Drastically reduced defense expenditures will be a big plus for the US>

The interests who benefit from military expenditures do not want the music to stop. No matter what happens in the ME, there will be a new boogyman to strike fear into the hearts of Americans (with a little help from their enemies). After the massive Cold War with the Soviet Union ended, did military expenditures go up or down ? Amazing how a little war or two with 4th rate countries can pick up the slack. Looks like China will be the yellow peril this time.
