What John Galt means by a 'locked in' consciousness is one that is
stifled, stunted, and 'locked out' from further growth. This occurs
in individuals who ACCEPT ideas, rules, concepts, and the like as written in stone, as axiomatic - without further questioning - without fundamental analysis - without allowing the information to be synthesized and integrated into the mind, into the soul of consciousness and allowed to become KNOWLEDGE. An example of 'locked in' consciousness are the evangelicals who see the bible as the word
of God and hence written in stone - unchanging, immobile and fat; stifling to the conscious mind. - as God, himself, is represented.
One more thing, the only BARRIER to John Galt is the barrier of the
unknown in his quest to DEFINE REALITY. I approach the unknown with
much trepidation, as it should be. Reality (ultimate truth) is the
unknown. This is a realm where many fear and escape from to where they know it is safe - in their dreams, fantasies, delusions, gods and the like - in their fairytales, and fairies, and old tales in an otherwise gone world. John Galt knows ultimate truth (reality) is likened to the highest number and that he can tell the difference between one hundred from that of one hundred and one. He knows he is closer to the ultimate truth. John Galt, ironically, is closer to God than the most holy of evangelicals will ever know. |
