Where is Coulter going to find "hundreds of millions of Americans buying health insurance on the free market"? The vast majority of American get their insurance from their employer or Medicare/Medicaid. The individual market is tiny. Fatal flaw.

If you end the tax preference for employer sponsored healthcare many more people would choose to buy individually. Often individual plans are available for much less than employer plans.

Without the tax preferred status the advantages of employer plans would wane. At that point the only advantage would be the employer contribution. As more people moved to individual plans compensation would be more likely to be straight forward. Employers would pay people what they are worth rather than making them take employer sponsored health insurance to get their full compensation.
