You can't expect a tiny portion of the marketplace (individual buyers) to reform a mass market. It would be tail wagging the dog; just doesn't work.

That is why you are probably happy with your socialized house. After all millions of consumers could never efficiently buy houses without either employers or government organizing the market for them.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous your argument sounds?
