(You *did* notice, didn't you?, that that student loan change actually REDUCED what Uncle Sam has been forking out in student loan spending, and reduced the federal deficit, and yet increased the amount of loans that will be available to students by CUTTING OUT the corporate welfare that was going to the middle men....)

The big banks have been making plenty of money off of this deal for a very long time because they got to keep the profits off of these loans... while the RISKS were being passed along to the taxpayers.
