In a few years people with pre-existing conditions, like my ex-business partner who was turned-down because his Doctor has him taking the generic statin Lipitor, will now have to buy medical insurance.

It was a convenient excuse for him to avoid pay health insurance premiums after his divorce. The premiums from these folks with an "independent streak" will lower premiums for the responsible who already pay for medical insurance.

I seem to recall a faux-conservative saying that making you pay for your own expenses, or taking away your welfare benefits, is the oldest socialist trick in the book.
