... but if an amnesty bill went through it would be much harder for the GOP.
Without question. If the conservative and/or non supporters of amnesty, lose out on Obama's forthcoming bill, it is over for the republicans for a very long time. Only a ground up build of a true conservative base consisting of local, state and federal politicians will allow some of this nonsense to be reversed. Given the voter party and voting breakdown, that takes a long time.
If we fail to regain control over the entire congress this Fall, watch for attacks on Talk Radio, Second Amendment, loss of the Supreme Court, no real action on education, a federal sales tax, higher gas taxes and ever increasing union power.
The job of Daily KOS, ACLU, La Raza etc. will be to pick fights with the republicans/conservatives because we have proven our inability to attack. We only defend.
Our RNC head is weak and inept. Too many of the old school congressional types simply don't get it.
I am of the view that it all rides on the 2010 election.
Back in '07 and '08 I suggested that the Congress was where we needed to focus. Instead it was all about McCain etc. It was painfully obvious that not a single GOP candidate for POTUS was capable of providing the necessary coat tails to get the House back from the '06 loss and to not lose the Senate.
Now, here we sit.
So, it is up to each of us, and congressional types like Ryan, Coburn plus other stout conservatives to take the lead from the old Rockefellers and go on the offensive one hundred percent. Already, this morning I heard comments on the telly about working with the democrats to fix the health care bill. That is a wrong headed approach. It's time to get mean. |
