Biden actually suggested subdividing Iraq. Could that have made the problems more manageable with the tribal culture?

My post about tribes and villages was about Afghanistan. Iraq is a completely different animal and a completely different kind of war.

On a personal level I do not and never did believe we should have invaded Iraq. But having said that early on, and since we did invade, I supported it all the way and think we should have beat Iraq into total submission (unconditional surrender) and initiated a US governed recovery plan similar to Germany and Japan.

The problem today is Iraq is not over...not even close.

One other point. I have called in about two hundred airstrikes in combat. I know what they can do and what they cannot do. I never believed in the USAF shock and awe theory for Iraq unless they were going to drop nukes.
