We believe that these trends will drive the Wi-Fi attach rate to 40% of all handsets in 2014

Great News for Globalstar Maurice. Every phone with Wi-Fi will in effect be Satellite Capable.

I would assume that as soon as the guys at Hughes start popin' out those Satellite Air Interface ASICS in 2012. They claim the cost will add$10 to the unit. Companies like Sierra Wireless, etc will start popin' em' into their multimode hotspot modems. Something like LTE, WiMAX and Globalstar all in one modem. All we need is some cheap "standardized" data pricing across the globe and those babies will sell like "hotcakes".

Let's hope the attach rate goes to 100%, and the "standardized" data rates are considered a good value.

No more high cost of User Terminal development and subsidies. Just a cheap multimode modem is all you will really need.

After all, they are already doing it with SPOT Messenger and the Delorme GPS. Next will come the "Smart Phone" WiFi/Bluetooth unit that enables outgoing text messaging anywhere in the Globalstar simplex area. Then comes the Quake Global SMS/LowData Rate Duplex Unit later this year when the satellites are back on-line. Then the 2nd Generation units with Higher Data rates in 2012. All without ever selling a phone or providing a subsidy.
