CJ, let's take one of the prime aspects of the health care bill: the requirement that no one with "pre-existing conditions" should be turned down.

If I had a car with a "pre-existing condition," could I get it insured? Not a chance.

If I had a house with a "pre-existing condition," am I covered? No way.

My wife's engagement ring is insured. What if it had a "pre-existing condition," namely that it was missing? Could I get insurance after that fact? Yeah right.

I understand the humanitarian reasons why no one with "pre-existing conditions" ought to be denied health care coverage. But the requirement is going to make costs skyrocket. Health insurance companies will be forced to foot the bill. Since they have the power to set prices, they will make up for it by raising premiums.
