greg, when a compnay is constantly reinventing itself then cpq may sell furniture and inside of all desk and coffee tables are expected to be pop up screens that communicate back to a master unit at home or work via radio frequency.
and the pc is the size of a credit credit card, is solar powered or or the battery last for a yr. it has holographic screen and data entry in voice and holographic.
also, toys are always here..computers in toys,
then there are appliance computers...
Are you getting the picture..cpq is not and does not think like IBM to get into the box that IBM got in.
IBM was just like the railroads.. they said "we are a railroad. we lay track and we move stuff from point a to point b" But, they really were in the transportation business. they should have been in the pony express , railroads, and also into trucking(providing they could buy off Hoffa), and into airplanes, and ships, and guess what..information moves from point A to point B too. So, telephone local and long dist., internet, EDI..etc. etc. etc. they were really in transporation business...But, their thinking was inside the box of " we lay track". The rail companies died out with that thinking.
Cpq will constantly re-invent their prodcut and service and will never go the way of IBM or the railroads.... please read every point in this and go buy some books.. I could suggest some....even some that quote me.<ggg> exchange2000.com
