The requirement to purchase health insurance won't come until 2014.

Even then, let's say the cost burden of covering those with "pre-existing conditions" is about 10X the premium. You would have to find 9 healthy people to cover the cost of one "pre-existing condition." And that's assuming those 9 healthy people won't start using some of the services offered by the insurance they are now forced to purchase.

Either way, the burden on the actual health care providers is only going to increase. Costs will increase as a result. Insurance is just a middle man, and spreading the risk doesn't reduce the cost.
