Either that's a Strawman or I didn't understand your question. I didn't say I disliked the writers....I suggested that possibly they didn't have any idea of what the various people OUTSIDE government make ....I've known for years that most government workers make more, and certainly have better benefits, than similar workers who work in private industry, and now there are many reports that say that is correct.

As far as Part D is concerned....now that places like WalMart, Costco, etc have many regularly prescribed prescriptions for $4 for a 30 day supply, without using the Part D insurance, I probably wouldn't have it. It isn't cheap to purchase it. HOWEVER, what insurance is supposed to do is to cover IF one has a serious major illness. i.e. Cancer.

The drugs and treatments for that are very expensive. That's why it is important to have insurance. There is no private insurance for drugs that I know of. We do not have cancer in our family that I am aware of, but one doesn't know what will happen.
