The thing I'm worried about is that not enough will be done to educate those who will obtain healthcare insurance through this plan on how to actually use it to keep costs down. Many poor and working class people are used to going to the emergency room for healtcare. That will no longer be necessary or desirable when they have health insurance coverage. If we want to keep costs down, we need to change the culture that uses emergency rooms as their primary care facilities. People need to learn to go to actual primary care facilities to keep the costs down for everyone. We made need more primary care facilities to care for the newly insured, and we may need to make it easier for nurses to diagnose and treat illnesses, so doctors don't have to get involved every time someone comes in with a sprain or the flu.
