Republicans supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act more heavily than Democrats

This is one of those items that is either factually true or not and can be measured by the recorded votes. There is no use disputing the fact unless you can find the historical Congressional vote count that proves it not to be true.
LBJ can thank the party of Lincoln for assisting and providing him with something to sign in 1964.

Dale's point is a bit different. He seems to be saying that the southern democrats became southern republicans after the vote.
