Do yourself a favor and do some research on these three groups:

Haganah, Irgun, and Lehi.

I would also recommend some reading by Tom Segev, an Isra'Elian historian.

By the way, the U.N. vote was coerced.

The U.S. government threatened trade sanctions against those who voted against the partition, and favore-nation trading status to those that did.
