CJ, the majority party calls for cloture votes. Reid is notorious for calling tons of cloture votes, even for times when a filibuster isn't likely.

Then he goes out and complains about the GOP filibuster threat, which is completely bogus:

You know it's bogus because Reid compares filibusters to stabbings.

Bottom line is this. Democrats are just as guilty of obstructionism as Republicans. Comparing the number of cloture votes is meaningless for two reasons:

a) Many of the cloture votes that Reid called for wasn't even in response to credible filibuster threats.

b) When the Dems took charge in 2007, they did not have any intention of reaching across the aisle. Reid was only too happy to bait Republicans into obstructionism, knowing that he could make political hay out of it.
