Everybody needs to take a damn deep breath. The reaction to the health care legislation would be utterly hilarious if it weren't so frightening. I'm a surgeon and work in our system everyday. It is currently FUBAR for a huge number of decent people. I have several patients who have had to declare bakruptcy and had their lives ruined after what was a relatively minor injury that required surgery. They have jobs, are good honest people, but can't afford health insurance and their companies don't cover them. THEY STILL GET THE CARE!. They come to the emergency room because their shin bone is sticking out of the skin and we take care of them. They just can't pay for it. Instead, they go bankrupt and YOU pay for it in the current system. Hospitals and doctors just transfer the cost of caring for those guys to the people who can pay. 20% of my billing is UNCOLLECTABLE! THis is usually hard working people who, because they work, don't qualify for Medicaid(which pays peanuts but is better than nothing). By providing insurance, the overall cost for the nation will go DOWN not up. People will get care at the appropriate time, they will avoid having their entire lives turned upside down, they will be more productive, keep their job etc etc. benefitting everyone. There is so much misinformation and disinformation out there that it is no longer amusing. You need to look no further for the brown shirts coming than the pundits and hypesters that are warning you that the brown shirts are coming.
